Mission Statement Our mission is to prevent and curtail violence among youth in our Barrios by providing them with alternatives. We focus on building positive self-esteem and cultural pride through meaningful activities, education, and job training.
Volunteer Duties Volunteers can choose to work in any of our programs such as our Kids Clubs (after school youth mentorship program), youth groups (high school), juvenile hall, audio engineering, cultural programs (will include to help coordinate community events), the prison project (Policy advocacy, Prison reform, Reentry outreach, in-custody programs), and/or with the expansion of our silk screen business (sales, marketing, production, and graphic design). Barrios Unidos utilizes volunteers and interns to assist with programming activities such as outreach, marketing, and tutoring.
